Actress Kubbra Sait recently opened up about one of the most difficult phases of her life and it was when she had to undergo an abortion. She revealed that she was too weak at that time and had to face the situation all alone. The actress also recalled that the incident gave her strength as she stood up for herself.
The Sacred Games actress said, “When I went through the abortion, I don’t think I was being strong at all. I was just too weak to take it forward. I didn’t have the courage or the strength to say that if I don’t do this, then I will live with it. I felt very weak at that time. I felt hollow. I felt like I was not worth it at all. But what came out of it much later was strength. That you made a decision for yourself and stood by your own thoughts. You broke stereotypical patterns, you broke societal norms and no one knew about them. I went by myself and got myself through the abortion. I didn’t tell anyone.”
She did not disclose this incident to her friends immediately, but they came to know about it when one of her friends brought up the issue one day. That’s when she started weeping in front of her friend.
“I met one of my girlfriends, and she went on this trip and said, ‘You’re not listening.’ I just told her. ‘Who went through an abortion? You?’ And that’s when it hit her and that’s when it hit me and that’s when I started weeping because I was like, ‘I have not told this to anyone’. No one knows that this is what I have gone through,” Kubbra recalled.
The actress also reflected upon the fact that the action could have had life-altering repercussions, and she could have died. “You are taking this decision all by yourself. No one knows, and no one cares. And this is not a small decision in your life. You don’t know how it’s going to impact the rest of your life,” she shared.
