James Cameron is working on the highly-anticipated third installment of his sci-fi blockbuster franchise Avatar. Titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, the film is the latest entry after Avatar: The Way of Water. Now, the director has revealed his wife, Suzy Amis Cameron’s reaction to the film.
In an interview with Empire, James Cameron revealed that his wife recently watched the entire cut of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Sharing her overwhelmingly emotional response, he said, “She bawled for four hours.” He further added that she tried giving some feedback on specific elements of the movie, but she would burst into tears while talking about it.
Cameron often trusts Suzy’s judgement when it comes to his movies. The director shared that she had inputs on his biggest box office hits, including Titanic, Avatar and Avatar 2. “I trust her heart,” he shared.

Fire and Ash will pick up after the events of Avatar: The Way of Water. The 2022 film took viewers back to Pandora and unveiled a touching story about family and community. The next installment will see the Sully family coping with the tragic death of their elder son, Neteyam. Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri will return for the upcoming sequel. Earlier, Cameron had shared that the film will take a fresh approach. Saldana had also teased the film’s plot, hinting that the end could be heartbreaking as the Sullys might part ways.
James Cameron is reportedly adding the finishing touches to Avatar: Fire and Ash. Post-production is currently underway in New Zealand. Early reactions to the film are calling it the sci-fi franchise’s best entry. The film will hit theatres on December 19.
