Mahima Chaudhry defends Nadaaniyan compares criticism to Ranbir Kapoorâs Animal

Mahima Chaudhry, who plays a key role in Netflix’s Nadaaniyan, recently shared her thoughts on the film’s negative reviews. Addressing the criticism, the 51-year-old actor pointed out that audience opinions are always divided, citing Animal as an example. She explained that some viewers prefer realistic cinema, while others enjoy lighthearted, escapist films, and that’s just how it has always been. She acknowledged that every film, no matter how big or small, faces criticism from a section of the audience. According to her, people have different tastes, and it’s impossible to please everyone.

Nadaaniyan, which features Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor in lead roles, has been widely criticized since its release last Friday. Viewers have slammed the film for weak performances, a lackluster storyline, and an cheesy narrative. Despite the backlash, Chaudhry remains unfazed and believes that mixed reactions are a natural part of filmmaking. She noted that even highly successful films have their share of detractors, which is why she doesn’t take negativity to heart. In her opinion, what truly matters is how much effort was put into making the film.

She also mentioned that her close friends and family members had a positive response to the film. According to her, many of them had already watched it soon after its release and even sent her messages appreciating it. She emphasized that she has been receiving a lot of love and support through direct messages, which reassures her despite the criticism. Chaudhry believes that personal feedback from loved ones holds more value than anonymous online opinions. She added that as long as the people who matter to her enjoy the film, she feels content.

In Nadaaniyan, Chaudhry portrays a woman married to a wealthy Delhi businessman, played by Suniel Shetty. Her character faces constant blame from her family for not bearing a male heir, while her husband is involved in an extramarital affair. The film also stars Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj, Meezan Jaafri, Archana Puran Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Aadar Poonawalla under Dharmatic Entertainment, the film has been directed by Shauna Gautam.
