Thalapathy Vijay To Shoot for Venkat Prabhus GOAT VS OG In 2027?

GOAT or the Greatest Of All Time released in 2024. This was director Venkat Prabhu’s first collaboration with Thalapathy Vijay, which went on to become a box-office hit. However, the actor has recently noted that he won’t be concentrating on movies for some time and help his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) instead.

He announced his decision to quit films after the release of his upcoming project Jana Nayagan. However, this decision has given rise to speculations on social media about GOAT VS OG’s filming and release. In Vijay’s statement about quitting films he said “According to me, politics is not just another job for me. It’s a sacred job. Not just political heights, I understood that I need to learn the length and breadth of politics from my predecessors. I am preparing myself for it mentally. So, politics is not a hobby. It’s my deepest desire. I want to involve myself completely. Hence, I will complete one more film that I committed to and become a full-fledged politician. This is how I’d pay my debts to the people of Tamil Nadu.”

However, at a recent event, Venkat Prabhu chimed in and shared an update about GOAT VS OG. He said that the sequel is still happening, but not anytime soon. He stated that he will reveal an update about the same after 2026. “I will give the GOAT VS OG update after 2026,” he noted.

GOAT starred Vijay, alongside Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer, Vaibhav and more. It collected approximately Rs 455 to 460 crores globally and has been considered as a hit at the box office. The movie was released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It became Vijay’s second highest-grossing film after Leo.
