Aamir Khan is not just a brilliant actor but also a loving father to his three kids, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, and Azaad Khan. Over the years, he has shown his deep bond with them in many ways, whether it’s supporting their careers, celebrating their achievements, or simply being there for them. On his 60th birthday, here’s a look at seven moments that prove Aamir Khan is a doting dad.
Junaid Khan’s Loveyapa promotions
Aamir Khan has helped Junaid Khan promote his movie Loveyapa. The doting dad attended the movie’s trailer launch and hyped up Junaid and his co-star Khushi Kapoor. He also arranged for a special screening of the movie, attended by his colleagues and industry seniors, including Dharmendra, Rekha, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and more.
Being stressed about Junaid’s movies
When Loveyapa did not perform as expected at the box office, Aamir Khan had opened up about feeling extremely sad. He revealed that he was ten times more stressed about Junaid’s film than his own, even though he wasn’t involved in the production or direction of the film. However, Aamir also praised Junaid and expressed his belief in him. “Junaid is young, intelligent and he has got a lot of energy. He has got a lot of positivity so he will find his way,” he said.
Ira Khan’s wedding
Aamir Khan was photographed participating at Ira Khan’s grand wedding. She married her long time beau Nupur Shikhare. Aamir Khan, Reena Dutta and the entire family participated in the festivities while being there for Ira on her big day. Many reports also suggested that Aamir Khan called upon chefs from different corners of the country and helped create the best dishes for his daughter.
Mental health therapy with Ira Khan
Aamir Khan had revealed going for mental health therapy sessions with Ira Khan. He added that Ira helped him with his efforts towards self-improvement. “Therapy is so helpful. I think she (Ira) pushed me down that path. I would strongly recommend therapy to anyone who feels the need for it…In fact, Ira and I have also started joint therapy. The two of us go to a therapist for our own relationship. To work on how to make that better and the issues which have been there for over years,” he shared.
Bond with Azaad Rao Khan
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao welcomed Azaad Khan in 2011 via surrogacy. During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Kiran had opened up on co-parenting Azaad with Aamir. Sharing that she and Aamir wanted to be supportive towards Azaad, despite divorce, Kiran said, “There was closure in some ways. There was also a sense of building the confidence of the family and Azad’s support system, ensuring that he never feels the emotional repercussions of this.”
Aamir has been photographed going for lunch with Azaad. In fact, he is also clicked with both his sons together, Junaid and Azaad.
Junaid Khan’s childhood
Despite Aamir and Reena Dutta splitting when Junaid was only 8, he revealed that he never saw his parents fight. Junaid noted that he only saw both disagree over a matter when he was 19. “So we never saw them disagree or fight. They always… When it came to us (Junaid and his sister Ira) they were a single unit. So, I think that they did well. I think it was probably a mature thing to do. I mean two good people aren’t always good together and this way we got, at least I got a childhood with both parents being happy,” he shared.
No academic pressure
Aamir Khan once revealed that he has never pressured his kids to be the class topper. He said, “Ever since Junaid was born, I have never wanted my kids to stand first in the class and be the topper. I’ve never wanted that, that’s not been a desire in me. I always wanted my child to be happy and I want my child to explore and be curious about things that he or she is curious about, because I feel, genuinely, that all of us are blessed with multiple intelligence, and unfortunately, we measure intelligence essentially through reading and writing.”
However, when Ira Khan did well in academics, Aamir said he was proud. “Yeah she did. 89? 88 point something. I was really proud. I was so sure that she was gonna flunk. Then she got 88 and I was like, “No, it’s got to be a mistake.” I told Reena, I said, “Reena check again”, So Reena checked again. I said, “Give me the number and let me check.” So I went online and I checked. Sure enough, she’d got 88.3 if I am not mistaken,” he said.
