Exclusive: John Abraham On Using His Physicality To Build His Career

In the latest episode of In the Ring with Filmfare, actor John Abraham opened up about how actors often get trapped in their own image. He spoke about how his physicality became a major part of his identity in films and how he used his marketing background to turn it into an advantage. He also shared his perspective on criticism and how he has learned to take it in stride rather than letting it affect him negatively.

Talking about his journey, John said, “An actor becomes a prisoner of his own image. For me, it’s about my physicality. And I come from the marketing space, so I used my physicality—be it Dostana, Force, or Jism. I used my physicality. I said, ‘Hey, listen, I come from a marketing background, I need to be smart about this. So, this is what’s selling for me, so let me sell this till the point where I am powered enough to then make my decisions to do what I really want to do.'”

He also reflected on how his career has been shaped by criticism and how he chooses to handle it. “Career, as I said, has been built on criticism. Either you are very negative about it, bitter about it, ready to fight with the world, or you say, ‘Okay, everybody has a right to criticize, and that’s a space I’m living in. I am happy,'” he shared. His words highlight his ability to stay focused despite external opinions and his belief in evolving as an actor.
