Varun Dhawan reflects on his life living in a one-bedroom apartment
Varun Dhawan recently sat for a chat with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel and reflected on his humble beginning during the ’90s. The actor claimed that he grew up in a one-bedroom apartment. He shared that his elder brother, Rohit Dhawan, and his parents, filmmaker, David Dhawan and Karuna Dhawan, always made sure that he never lacked anything despite their middle-class upbringing. Talking about their financial situation, the actor explained that his father didn’t earn huge amounts of money despite being a successful filmmaker in the 1990s because salaries were relatively modest during that era. Talking about his childhood and lifestyle, he was quoted saying:
“Voh gareebi nahi hoti hai. My father has risen in life…he came from Kanpur to Mumbai. We used to live in one bedroom flat but that wasn’t poverty because the way my parents bought me up…I was in a fairytale. My elder brother protected me so much when I was a child I didn’t even understand things. I would go around in an auto, and I would think of myself as a king. I have travelled in autos till the age of 15.”
