Vishal Bhardwaj has been working on his next with Shahid Kapoor for a while now. The film was announced late last year and this reunion of the Haider maker and star has had the fans excited. Well, Filmfare’s trusted sources have revealed a new, exciting proposition to this project. Actor Vikrant Massey will play a cameo in the movie. The idea of watching Shahid and Vikrant in a single frame is exciting stuff.
Our source revealed, “Vikrant recently had a look test for Vishal Bhardwaj’s movie. And the test was a successful one. Both Vikrant and Vishal were happy with the way things turned out. The fans can expect Vikrant to have a brief but impactful role in the upcoming movie.” That’s exciting news since Vikrant hasn’t appeared in a project since his last release The Sabarmati Report, which came out in theatres in November 2024. After that, Vikrant had shocked the fans when he announced that he would take time off from his acting career to rethink and realign on his creative endeavours. Fans thought he was going to retire, but the 12th Fail star cleared the air when he shared an update with a post that stated, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home, and health are also acting up… People misread it (his initial social media post).” Vikrant’s sabbatical could end with this special appearance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film. But there’s also another plum project featuring Vikrant in the lead.

Stills of this romantic saga hit the social media timelines and fans had a lot to say about the fresh new pairing of Vikrant and Shanaya. Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is reportedly based on Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It.
