BTS’ J-Hope has currently embarked on his solo tour, after the release of his digital singles Sweet Dreams (ft. Miguel) and Mona Lisa. An incident in one of his tour stops in Mexico has outraged social media fans. A video has been doing rounds on social media, where J-Hope is seen being touched “inappropriately” by a female fan. It has started conversations about the safety of celebrities, especially pop singers.
In the video, J-Hope is seen performing near his fans during one of his shows in Mexico. Many fans had previously suspected that the fan slid her hand under his shirt while he was performing, which has been debunked. However, the video shows the fan touching the idol’s stomach, as she left her hands to linger for some moments.
J-Hope’s fans and other social media users shared the video, terming the behaviour of the fan as inappropriate. One fan penned, “Shame on anyone who decides to do things like these. Everyone has been respectful so far, why do people think they´ll appreciate if anyone crosses the line? People must have boundaries.” Many fans also requested J-Hope’s team to be more careful, especially when he is performing. Some fans also speculated that J-Hope left the area soon after feeling uncomfortable.
This isn’t a standalone case in the industry, as several other celebrities have been touched inappropriately time and again. In September last year, SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu was touched inappropriately at Lollapalooza Berlin. Mingyu stepped off stage during his performance. He approached the barricade to interact with fans. Unfortunately, as he was talking with the audience, someone reached out and touched his body, notably his abs. The incident had left fans shocked and enraged.
