Luv Films reimagines Vadh as a Marathi drama with Devmanus

Luv Films is stepping into Marathi cinema with Devmanus, a culturally immersive reimagination of their acclaimed 2022 film Vadh. Rather than doing a direct remake, the makers have reshaped the story to reflect the traditions, language, and emotional pulse of Maharashtra—creating a version that feels both new and deeply personal to regional audiences.

Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, the film stars seasoned actors Mahesh Manjrekar, Renuka Shahane, and Subodh Bhave in significant roles. Since the release of its impactful teaser and the soul-stirring song Panduranga, Devmanus has captured attention and stirred curiosity. The visuals, tone, and music point to a film that promises emotional depth while remaining rooted in the cultural fabric of Maharashtra. For Luv Films’ founders Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, this marks their first foray into Marathi cinema.

Screenwriter Neha Shitole says the team was determined to make the story resonate on a local level. “We didn’t just want to translate Vadh, we wanted to reimagine it with elements that feel native to Maharashtra. From the spiritual path of a Warkari to the intricacies of Paithani weaving, and the energy of a Lavani performance—these aren’t just visual cues, they’re woven into the story’s soul,” she explains.

Director Tejas adds that every detail was crafted with care—from costumes and character mannerisms to the emotional beats. “We wanted audiences to feel like Devmanus was written for them, not borrowed from another world,” he says. The backing of Luv Films, known for delivering strong emotional narratives, ensured the adaptation had the same cinematic weight as Vadh, but with a voice of its own.

Slated to hit theatres on April 25, 2025, Devmanus offers a rare blend of gripping storytelling and cultural resonance. It stands as a tribute to Maharashtra’s artistic spirit, with all the makings of an emotionally powerful theatrical experience that aims to move, entertain, and connect.
