Writer and director Tahira Kashyap revealed that her breast cancer has relapsed. Ayushman Khurrana’s wife, who previously battled breast cancer and was free of it, announced recently that her cancer has come back for the second time. She posted a note on Instagram that read, “Seven-year itch or the power of regular screening- it’s a perspective, I had like to go with the latter and suggest the same with everyone who needs to get regular mammograms. Round 2 for me…I still got this.” Captioning the post, she wrote, “When life gives you lemons make lemonade. When life becomes too generous and throws them again at you, you squeeze them calmly into your favourite kala khatta drink and sip it with all the good intentions. Because for one it’s a better drink and two you know you will give it your best once again”
She continued that she is not shying away from saying it is breast cancer. Her post continued, “#regularscreening #mammogram not shying away from saying it #breastcancer #onemoretime #letsgo
Ironically or not today is #WorldHealthDay Let’s do whatever we can in our capacity to take care of ourselves #gratitude through and through”
Taking to the comment section, Ayushmann called Tahira his hero and left an encouraging remark. Her brother-in-law, actor Aparshakti Khurana, commented on her post, “Big tight hug bhabhi! We know Tussi ainu viii lamaaa paa laaonge” Sonali Bendre, who is a cancer survivor, added, “No words baby! Just sending love strength and prayers” Several other celebrities such as Twinkle Khanna, Gajraj Rao, Guneeet Monga and Mini Mathur, too, left warm and encouraging words for Tahira.
Earlier, in an exclusive conversation with Filmfare, Tahira opened up about her first cancer diagnosis and shared how there was a stigma around the conversation of cancer. She said, “Now people have become even more vocal about it because now people are accepting and sharing the knowledge and awareness. When it happened to me, everybody was calling it the C word. I was like, ‘what is this C word?’ Why is it being called C, because you can’t even say cancer. It’s such a stigma.”
