Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning trailer: Tom Cruise risks it all one last time

Tom Cruise is back playing the iconic Ethan Hunt in the next instalment of the long-running Mission: Impossible franchise. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning arrives in theatres this summer. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers have dropped an action-filled trailer. And it will leave you nostalgic and rather emotional, given that this is Hunt’s last outing.

Ethan Hunt must face his past in the trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

It opens with Cruise’s Ethan hanging off the edge of a helicopter as a voiceover goes, “This can’t all be true. We then see him running from a bombing, gassing a security briefing and more as the trailer plays out clips from Ethan Hunt’s previous missions. Amidst all the pacey action and death-defying stunts, the stakes seem higher than ever as Ethan goes on one last mission. The higher powers decide that he needs to be stopped as the world is on the brink of chaos. “I need you to trust me, one last time,” says Hunt towards the end of the thrilling trailer.

Fans can’t wait for the film’s release. Reacting to the trailer, one fan commented, “Almost 30 years and we’re here, let’s light the fuse. One last time.” Another wrote, “MAXIMUM RESPECT for a man who risks his life to deliver the best entertainment!”

About Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

The next film picks up after Dead Reckoning, where Ethan Hunt faces a rogue AI known as The Entity. The ensemble cast includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, and Angela Bassett.

At CinemaCon, Cruise heaped praise on director Christopher McQuarrie. He shared, “He’s the hero of that film and put Skydance on the map. Because of Christopher McQuarrie, we delivered Top Gun: Maverick and two Mission: Impossible films during pandemic shutdowns and strikes. You’re a modern-day Thalberg and an asset to every studio you serve.”

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will release on May 23, 2025.
