Dhurandhar to Re-release in Theatres With Updated Cut After Directives From Government

Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar continues its impressive performance at the box office since its theatrical release on December 5, 2025. The film has exceeded the collections of Pathaan, Jawan, Chhaava, and several other big movies.

While the film has received massive praise from audiences, some have characterized it as propaganda due to its political content. In a recent development, the latest reports suggest that the makers are planning to re-release the movie with a revised version.

According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, cinema halls nationwide received an email from distributors on December 31, 2025, notifying them of the film’s DCP replacement. The source told the publication, “The reason for the change is that the makers have muted two words and changed a dialogue in the film, as per the directives received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.”

It has been reported that cinemas have been requested to download and screen the updated version of the movie starting from January 1, 2026. The insider further told, “One of the words removed from the new version of Dhurandhar is ‘Baloch’.”

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is nearing a full month since its theatrical release. This blockbuster has already surpassed the Rs 1100 crore milestone in worldwide box office earnings. Domestically, the movie outperformed expectations by crossing Rs 739 crore in earnings by its 28th day.

The ensemble features Ranveer Singh in the lead role. He plays an undercover Indian agent infiltrating a militant organization based in Lyari Town, Pakistan. Akshaye Khanna’s performance as Rehman Dakait earned massive praise from viewers. Despite the film achieving incredible commercial success, it remains banned across all Gulf nations.

The ensemble cast also includes Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi in key roles. Additionally, the sequel is currently slated for a worldwide release on March 19, 2026.
