Emily in Paris has been greenlit for a sixth season, reaffirming the global popularity of the glossy romantic dramedy led by Lily Collins. The announcement was made on January 5, just over two weeks after Season 5 premiered on the streaming platform, signalling strong viewership and sustained audience interest in Emily Cooper’s whirlwind life across Europe.
Season 5 saw Emily expand her professional horizons beyond France. Agence Grateau attempted to launch a new office in Rome. While the Italian chapter introduced fresh opportunities and a new romance with Marcello Muratori, it also exposed growing professional challenges. As French clients grew restless and Italian deals failed to materialise, Sylvie and the rest of the Paris team began questioning whether Rome was truly the right move. By the season’s end, Emily’s heart and ambitions pulled her back to Paris. Here, unfinished business awaited. The finale left fans with several unresolved plot points which the Netflix show will want to resolve.
Emily and Gabriel were last seen adrift on a yacht off the coast of Greece. As for Mindy, she has currently found herself caught between Nico and Alfie once again. These cliffhangers have fuelled speculation about where the characters’ personal and professional paths will lead next.
Creator Darren Star has hinted that Season 6 will revisit Paris as its primary setting. This is to bring the show back to its roots. He also suggested that Emily’s priority moving forward will be her career, rather than jumping headfirst into romance. However, the long-running will-they-won’t-they dynamic between Emily and Gabriel remains far from over. According to Star, their relationship is unlikely to restart instantly. However, there is room for a slow, emotional reconnection.
Season 5 delivered impressive numbers, reportedly drawing nearly 27 million views worldwide within its first 11 days. While Netflix has yet to confirm the full Season 6 cast, familiar faces including Collins, Lucas Bravo, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park and others are widely expected to return.
