2024 saw filmmakers experimenting with new trends in cinema and some of the most notable ones were riding on the franchise wave and interconnected film universes. This year also featured many exciting crossovers and striking cameos that captured audiences’ attention. We have curated a list of some of the most impactful cameos of this year.
Stree 2 (Tamannaah Bhatia, Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar)
Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan and Tamannaah Bhatia’s cameos in Stree 2 were not standalone special appearances, they hinted at bigger things to come. Tamannaah played Shama, Rudra Bhaiyya’s (Pankaj Tripathi) love interest, Varun Dhawan reprised his role as Bhediya from his own film, which is a part of the same horror movie universe. Akshay was a new addition to the universe and his cameo teased at a new, expansive plotline where he will likely be seen as an antagonist.
Salman Khan (Baby John and Singham Again)
This year Salman Khan fans were left without a theatrical release of the actor but he made up for it with two dashing cameos in Singham Again and Varun Dhawan’s Baby John. The Singham meets Chulbul Pandey prospect had the fans dancing in the aisles.
Mrunal Thakur (Kalki 2898 AD)
Mrunal Thakur had a small yet noteable presence in Kalki 2898 AD which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in lead roles among others. She played the role of Divya, a woman who was assumed to be Kalki’s mother. This film also had cameo appearances of Vijay Deverakonda and Dulquer Salman.
Janhvi Kapoor (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya)
Janhvi Kapoor made a charming special appearance towards the end of the film. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya stars Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.
Ananya Panday (Bad Newz)
Ananya Panday made a special appearance as herself. She approached the lead of the film Saloni (played by Triptii Dimri) as she was starring in a film based on her life. The story of the film is told through flashbacks as Saloni narrates the entire incident to Ananya. Bad Newz also starred Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk in lead roles along with Triptii.
