Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar saw a major rise at the box office. Interestingly, the makers have planned a sequel to it, to be released on March 19, 2026. Dhurandhar 2 will have the usual cast members, Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal. Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait will also be a part of the movie, but will only appear in brief flashbacks. Now, a recent report from Mid-Day has stated that Vicky Kaushal will be a part of the movie too.
The actor is reportedly returning with the role of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill from Uri: The Surgical Strike. Fans have been speculating whether the inclusion means the worlds of Dhurandhar and Uri interconnecting. The report also clearly mentioned that the actor is not taking up any other role in the movie and returning with his old role from Uri. It will reportedly be a cameo but shall hold impact. As per the report, “Aditya has been tight-lipped about the star power he is adding to Dhurandhar 2. The director, who plans to build the Dhurandhar universe, has smartly woven in a track from Uri despite the difference in the two stories’ timelines. Vicky’s character from the war drama, which is set in 2016, is introduced in this film, although it remains unclear whether he and Ranveer’s character cross paths. The cameo includes a few action blocks.”
This latest development links Dhar’s earlier success in the military genre with his current directorial project. The report suggests that Kaushal filmed his portions last year and kept the collaboration discreet. He did that until the first instalment was released. While Dhar and Kaushal have teamed up before, this marks their professional reunion following the indefinite postponement of their ambitious sci-fi film The Immortal Ashwatthama, which was stalled due to escalating budget concerns and logistical challenges.
