Shah Rukh Khan is Dubai-bound, and there’s a stylish reason behind the trip. The Bollywood superstar was spotted at the airport earlier today, triggering buzz online and it has now emerged that Khan is heading to the UAE to attend the inaugural Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion (DMFOF), where he will be honoured as a Global Style Icon.
The two-day fashion extravaganza kicks off on January 29 and runs through January 30 at The Dubai Mall, the world’s most visited shopping destination. Designed as a new annual platform, the festival aims to further cement Dubai’s growing reputation as a global fashion and luxury capital, bringing together international designers, industry leaders and cultural icons.
The festival’s programming is spread across two days. Day one will focus on hands-on masterclasses and panel discussions at the Dubai Mall Grand Atrium, covering everything from makeup and styling to modest fashion, accessories, fragrance and adapting runway trends for everyday wear. Day two turns the spotlight on the future of luxury, with conversations around AI in fashion, the rise of regional fashion powerhouses and the evolving relationship between creativity and commerce, before culminating in a high-profile awards night.
The grand finale will take place at the Armani Hotel on January 30, where Shah Rukh Khan is set to make a special appearance to receive the Global Style Icon award. With a career spanning over three decades, more than 100 films and a global box office crossing $1 billion, Khan is being recognised for his enduring influence on international style, pop culture and cinema.
Another big highlight of the festival is internationally celebrated designer Reem Acra, who will headline the marquee couture runway show. Acra’s exclusive presentation, scheduled for the evening of January 30, will feature an expansive collection including her signature bridal creations and select couture looks from her label.
Opened in 2008 and spanning over 1.2 million square metres, The Dubai Mall has increasingly positioned itself as a luxury and fashion hub, especially since the launch of Fashion Avenue in 2018. The Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion marks another step in the city’s efforts to bridge global haute couture with regional innovation with Shah Rukh Khan’s presence adding unmistakable star power.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will next be King. Directed by Siddharth Anand, King features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma and more.
