Eyewitnesses at Baramati shared that they heard around four to five explosions and saw a thick black of smoke in the sky. The aircraft was completely gutted, which made it difficult to identify the bodies. However, a report by the Times of India revealed that Ajit’s body was identified via a wristwatch he was known to wear regularly. The watch was Ajit’s constant companion, and the deceased Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra was known for his punctuality. Sandeep Singh Gill, superintendent of police in Pune Rural, shared:
“Our team inspected all the bodies recovered from the crash site and identified the deputy chief minister’s body by studying his wristwatch. The police personnel were familiar with it.”
