Priyanka Chopra Jonas is coming back to Indian films almost after six years with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi. The film will also mark her Telugu debut and see her with Mahesh Babu for the first time. During one of her latest interviews, the actress also dropped a subtle hint about two of her big Bollywood franchise films, Don and Krrish.
Priyanka had earlier starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farhan Akhtar’s Don franchise, which went on to become a cult favourite. While Don 3 was officially announced with Ranveer Singh stepping into the lead, reports later suggested that the project was put on hold after the actor exited, with Farhan Akhtar shifting focus to other commitments.
There were also reports suggesting that Priyanka will reprise her role in Krrish 4. Speaking to Screenrant, the actress addressed the speculations of her returning to these franchises and said, “I don’t know if I can talk about either of them at all.” This made Mahesh Babu quip, “Then there’s something happening.”
Priyanka added, “Exciting, exciting times ahead, and, yes, this (Varanasi) is the first one that I’m doing after, like, almost six years in India, and just coming back.” The actress also said that she would be “open to revisiting characters and worlds that have a strong storytelling potential.”
Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar had also announced another film with Priyanka. Titled Jee Le Zaraa, it starred the actress along with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. With Don 3 on the back burner, reports suggested that Farhan is focusing on Jee Le Zaraa once again. However, it is not certain whether he will develop the film with the same star cast.
Reports were also doing the rounds last year that Hrithik Roshan is expected to take over the directorial role from his father, Rakesh Roshan, in Krrish 4, and Priyanka is expected to play a crucial role in it.
The speculations gained momentum when Hrithik was seen spending time with Priyanka and her husband, Nick Jonas, in America. However, an official announcement is awaited.
