Bollywood actor, Rajpal Yadav has been making headlines due to a significant development in his age-old legal case. The 54-year-old surrendered at Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, to serve a six-month prison sentence. The case arises from a decade-long financial dispute over a Rs. 5 crore loan taken by Yadav in 2010 for his directorial debut film, Ata Pata Laapata. In 2018, a magisterial court convicted Rajpal and his wife under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act after multiple cheques issued to M/s Murli Projects Pvt Ltd bounced.
The Delhi High Court temporarily suspended Rajpal’s sentence in June 2024, granting him time to settle his dues, which had reportedly grown to approximately Rs. 9 crore due to interest and penalties. As the actor failed to clear his dues by February 2026, the High Court ordered his surrender at Tihar Jail. Despite Rajpal’s last-minute offer to pay Rs. 25 to 50 lakh immediately and a request for a one-week extension, the court refused any further leniency. Amid the buzz around his legal case, here’s a look at his personal life, including his two marriages.
