Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas have once again shown why they are considered one of the most supportive couples in the industry. Nick recently opened up about his wife’s highly anticipated South Indian film, Varanasi, expressing immense excitement for the project.
In a recent appearance on the Zach Sang Show, Nick spoke about Priyanka’s professional journey and her return to Indian cinema. During the interview, he shared details about her upcoming collaboration with filmmaker SS Rajamouli. Discussing the scale of the project, Nick revealed, “Priyanka has been shooting one (movie) for 14 months, on and off. It’s a South Indian film with S.S. Rajamouli, who directed RRR, his last movie. This is his next big film; it’s going to be incredible.”
Varanasi marks an important milestone as it brings Priyanka back to Indian screens. The magnum opus features a stellar cast including South superstar Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. Reports suggest that Priyanka will be playing the character of Mandakini in the film, which is expected to hit theatres in April 2027.
Beyond the film itself, Nick expressed a deep admiration for Indian culture and the cinematic world. He mentioned that there are many great projects on the horizon and specifically praised the music found in Indian films. Calling the Indian melodies incredible, Nick said, “There’s so much great music in India and Indian cinema.” He further mentioned how inspiring he finds the work of composers who create cinematic hits that turn films into a celebration.
The singer also spoke about his personal connection to Indian traditions, stating that he loves Indian weddings and holidays. He shared that he and Priyanka are raising their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, with Hindu values and an understanding of karma. With Varanasi being termed as Rajamouli’s next massive venture after the global success of RRR, fans are eagerly waiting to see Priyanka take on this new role.
