The box office saw contrasting fortunes this Friday as O’Romeo and Tu Yaa Main hit theatres. While Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri’s romantic drama O’Romeo showed stronger momentum with improving occupancy through the day, Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor’s film Tu Yaa Main witnessed a comparatively muted response across key centres. With night shows indicating some growth, all eyes are now on the weekend to see whether word-of-mouth can shift the trajectory for either release.
As per Sacnilk’s estimates, O’Romeo has earned Rs 8.50 crores in India on its first day. The gross collection for India stands at Rs 10.10 crores. The movie had an overall 14.86 percent Hindi occupancy on its first day at the Box Office. The morning shows had an occupancy of 8.63 percent, while the afternoon shows stood at 12.17 percent. The evening shows stood at 13.66 percent and the night shows had an occupancy of 24.97 percent. Interestingly, Mumbai saw an occupancy of 19 percent, while Pune was at 14.75 percent and Hyderabad at 15.25 percent.
As for the lead stars, Shahid Kapoor’s top grossing movie is Padmaavat. It has collected Rs 302.15 at the box office. His other top grosser, Kabir Singh, collected Rs 278.8 crores overall. Triptii Dimri’s highest grosser is Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which stands at Rs 260.11 crores at the box office.
Tu Yaa Main saw a disappointing start at the box office. The Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor starrer earned only Rs 55 lakhs, as per Sacnilk’s estimates. Unfortunately, it failed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark. The movie had an overall 7.16 percent Hindi occupancy on its first day. The morning shows had an occupancy of 3.92 percent, while the afternoon shows stood at 5.84 percent. The evening shows stood at 6.46 percent and the night shows had an occupancy of 12.42 percent. Interestingly, Mumbai saw an occupancy of 10.25 percent, while Delhi NCR was at 5.25 percent.
This is Shanaya Kapoor’s second film. Her first film was Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan with Vikrant Massey. It had earned Rs 1.77 crores at the box office. As for Adarsh Gourav, his highest grosser is Superboys of Malegaon, which stands at Rs 5.32 crores.
