Canadian curler, Marc Kennedy is currently at the centre of a major controversy at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. The buzz around him stems from allegations of cheating and an abusive verbal exchange during a match against Sweden. The drama, termed as ‘Boopgate’ by social media users, erupted during Canada’s 8–6 round-robin victory over Sweden on February 13, 2026. Following that, Swedish player, Oskar Eriksson accused Kennedy of winning through cheating.
According to Oskar, Marc Kennedy double-touched the stone, released the handle, then gave the granite a final nudge with his finger to adjust its course. Marc, visibly angry at having his integrity questioned, responded with abusive words directed at Oskar Eriksson. Following that, the World Curling reviewed the play and concluded that no formal rule violation occurred because it doesn’t use video replay to overturn on-ice decisions. The incident led to online harassment of both Marc and his wife, Nicole Kennedy.
