Filmfare Flashback: Vikram Thanks Mani Ratnam As He Wins Big For Ponniyin Selvan – Part 2

The 69th Filmfare Awards South was a night of glitz, glamour, and emotional milestones, and it was a special moment when Chiyaan Vikram took the stage to accept the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his powerhouse performance in Ponniyin Selvan – Part 2.

Dressed in a sharp pink suit, Vikram looked every bit the royalty he played on screen. As he held the iconic Black Lady, the actor took a moment to express his deep gratitude toward the visionary director, Mani Ratnam who made it all possible.

Vikram’s acceptance speech was all about humility, pride and passion. He began by thanking the legendary director for trusting him with one of the most complex characters in Tamil literature. He expressed warmly, “Thank you Mani sir for that, and thank you for thinking that I could get into the skin of Aditha Karikalan.”

He didn’t stop at thanking the director, he also paid a poetic tribute to the character itself. Vikram described Aditha Karikalan as “fiery, volatile, mercurial, and a hopeless romantic who loved love so much that he died for it.” He admitted to the audience that he thoroughly enjoyed bringing that intensity to the silver screen, mentioning that Mani Ratnam inspired him and supported him through the whole thing.

The actor also took a moment to acknowledge Filmfare for consistently recognizing his craft, jokingly adding that such honours make him greedy for more of these beautiful black ladies. In a touching conclusion, Vikram shifted to Tamil to dedicate the prestigious award to those who have stood by him throughout his journey. He mentioned that he wanted to dedicate this win to his fans and friends, whom he loves more than life itself.

The 70th Filmfare Awards South with Kerala Tourism are officially making their way to the heart of Kerala, with excitement steadily building ahead of the big night. Set to be held on February 21, the celebration will bring together the finest talent from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam cinema, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the grandest showcases of South Indian cinema.
