The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards or BAFTA Awards 2026 happened at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Many celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Alia Bhatt, Emma Stone, Timothee Chalamet, Teyana Taylor, Paul Mescal, Michael B Jordan and more had arrived to attend the prestigious award ceremony. Dharmendra was honoured at the event, featured alongside internationally acclaimed names such as Diane Keaton, Terence Stamp, and Val Kilmer. His enduring legacy was remembered with grace and respect. The homage was made even more moving with a soulful live rendition of “The Way We Were” by Jessie Ware, played as photographs of the departed cinematic icons lit up the screen.

Dharmendra made his debut in the late ’50s and quickly became a superstar. He was known for his versatility, mastering roles from the romantic hero to the tough action star. His career boasts over 300 films, many of which are considered classics today. Some of his most memorable performances include the iconic role of Veeru in the cult classic Sholay, as well as memorable performances in Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer and Pratigya. His natural charm and powerful screen presence earned him millions of fans worldwide.
His absence will be deeply felt, but his cinematic work will continue to inspire new generations of actors and entertain audiences for decades to come.

Hosted by Alan Cumming, the BAFTA Awards 2026 witnessed exceptional actors and movies being awarded in different categories. The winners include Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) as the Leading Actress and Robert Aramayo (I Swear) as the Leading Actor. Paul Thomas Anderson won the Best Director award for One Battle After Another. Sean Penn won in the Supporting Actor category for One Battle After Another, Wunmi Mosaku in the Supporting Actress category for Sinners, Boong in the Children’s & Family Film category and more.
