R. Madhavan Reveals Dubai Fans Are Flying To India For Dhurandhar: The Revenge

The buzz around Aditya Dhar’s upcoming sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has reached international heights. R. Madhavan recently shared an interesting insight into the film’s craze, revealing that fans in Dubai are making special travel arrangements to India just to catch the movie on the big screen.

The first part, Dhurandhar, was a massive success, reportedly grossing Rs 1,300 crore worldwide and collecting $32 million overseas. This achievement came despite the film being banned in several Middle Eastern countries. Now, with the sequel scheduled for release on March 19, the excitement has only increased.

Speaking on a podcast with Sonia Shenoy on her YouTube channel, R. Madhavan highlighted how fans from Dubai are reacting to the ban in the Gulf. He shared, “That’s the power of good content. Now they are planning their business meetings around March 19 so that they can attend the meeting and watch Dhurandhar 2 because it’s not releasing in Dubai.

While many might assume audiences would wait for OTT release, Madhavan mentioned that the theatrical experience remains unmatched for these fans. He added, “For them, it would be so easy to just watch it on IPTV, okay? And I’m sure they could. But they want to experience watching a film like Dhurandhar in a theatre full of people.

Madhavan also talked about the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. He observed that while action films have traditionally focused on the India–Pakistan conflict or the freedom struggle, the modern audience is ready for a change. He said, “They’re like, samajh gaya main, kitni baar bologe? (I’ve understood it, how many times will you say it?) And I think after Dhurandhar, that whole India–Pakistan thing is going to go. That’s the full stop now.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is a spy action thriller starring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. The film will hit theatres on March 19, clashing with the Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups.
