In a recent and candid conversation, Shilpa Shetty Kundra has addressed the rumours around her personal and professional life. Over the last six months, she and her husband, Raj Kundra, have been at the center of intense public scrutiny, ranging from scam allegations to reports suggesting the closure of her famous restaurant, Bastian.
Despite the noise, Shilpa remained unfazed, explaining her commitment to her values and the integrity of her work. Speaking to Curly Tales, she talked about the challenges of living in the spotlight, mentioning that the competitive nature of the industry can lead people to go to great lengths to pull others down. She said, “It’s a very difficult path to constantly be in the public eye. And there is something called ‘nazar’, we always discuss it.”

Shilpa admitted that while the constant news coverage does affect her as a human, she has learned to handle it. She said, “It’s sad. I believe we’ve always stood our ground. As a company and as people, we’re known for our integrity. She further shared that her status often makes her a target for sensationalism, saying, “But I think as a celebrity, the unfortunate part is that my name has become like clickbait. So I’ve taken it in my stride.”
Addressing the specific rumours about the shutdown of Bastian, Shilpa explained that she felt a need to break her usual silence to protect the brand. Following a philosophy of “never complain, never explain,” she typically avoids responding to speculation. However, she clarified, “But this time it was about a brand, a brand we’ve put so much love, passion, and effort into.”
Interestingly, Shilpa views the situation through a positive lens, suggesting that even negative attention has its benefits. She said, “The PR we gained out of it, people thought it was bad PR, but you can’t build that kind of PR, for the love of money. We actually got that PR organically.
