Aadu 3 Trailer: Shaji Pappan Returns With Bigger Chaos A Legendary Weapon and A Two-Part Twist

If there is one Malayalam franchise that thrives on engineered absurdity, it is Aadu. Nearly a decade after the original film quietly stumbled in theatres only to roar back as a cult phenomenon, Aadu 3 is now gearing up to raise the stakes. The trailer for the much-awaited third chapter dropped on Sunday, offering fans a glimpse of a world that feels larger, louder and far more ambitious.

Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, the film once again places Jayasurya’s Shaji Pappan at the centre of escalating madness. But this time, the canvas stretches beyond the familiar chaos of Idukki. The three-minute trailer opens in an entirely different era. Jayasurya appears as a regal figure, speaking of a mysterious and formidable weapon. British soldiers refer to it as the Mysore Rocket, hinting at historical undercurrents that stretch back centuries. The narration frames it as a device that has triggered conflict and destruction across time.

What follows suggests that Aadu 3 will weave this legend into the present-day antics of the Winner Club. The story quickly shifts back to contemporary Idukki, where Arakkal Abu’s urgent cry of “Shajiyettaa” signals that trouble has once again found its favourite target. The trailer teases multiple timelines colliding, with the ancient weapon somehow tied to the comedic disaster that inevitably engulfs Shaji Pappan and his gang.

For fans, the appeal of Aadu has always rested in its unapologetic embrace of comic excess. The first film, released in 2015, under-performed during its theatrical run. However, its afterlife on DVD and television transformed it into a pop culture favourite. Quotable dialogues, eccentric characters, and relentless gag-writing helped it find an audience that championed its so-called inspired lunacy. By the time Aadu 2 arrived in 2017, the franchise had built enough goodwill to translate into strong box office numbers.

Aadu 3 looks determined to build on that momentum while expanding the mythology. Familiar faces return to stir up fresh chaos. Saiju Kurup, Vinayakan, Sunny Wayne, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Indrans and Vijay Babu reprise their roles, bringing back beloved characters such as Saathan Xavier, Abu, Dude and PP Sasi. The trailer offers blink-and-miss glimpses of their antics, suggesting that the ensemble chemistry remains intact.

Interestingly, the makers have confirmed that this film is only the first chapter of a planned two-part story. That decision alone hints at narrative ambition. Instead of functioning as a standalone comedy caper, Aadu 3 appears to position itself as the beginning of a larger saga that could redefine the tonal boundaries of the franchise.

The historical reference to the Mysore Rocket also adds an intriguing layer. The real-life rocket technology was famously used in warfare by Tipu Sultan during the Anglo-Mysore conflicts, making its inclusion in a fantasy comedy both unexpected and bold. Whether the film leans into satire, spectacle or sheer slapstick remains to be seen, but the trailer promises a blend of period drama aesthetics and trademark Winner Club chaos.

Aadu 3 is slated for a worldwide release on March 19. The timing places it in a competitive box office window, as it gears up to clash with Geetu Mohandas and Yash’s Toxic as well as Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Yet, if history has proven anything, it is that Shaji Pappan thrives in unlikely circumstances.

If the trailer is any indication, the franchise that once found glory after failure is ready to gamble bigger than ever. The question is not whether chaos will follow Shaji Pappan. It is how epic that chaos is about to become.
