Ladakh climate activist, Sonam Wangchuk, has been hogging the limelight after he got released from the Jodhpur Central Jail, after six months. For the unversed, Sonam Wangchuk got arrested and detained back in September 2025. This was after protests in Ladakh erupted over the demand for stronger constitutional protections for the region.
Wangchuk, who was conducting a peaceful protest and speaking of climate-focused campaigns, became the voice of the demands. The political unrest was linked to him, and he got arrested. Well, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, stood by him. She had also gone to the Jodhpur Central Jail to speak to Sonam, a famous engineer and innovator.
