How did Jarvis Butts die in prison?
According to a recent report from the Michigan Department of Corrections, Jarvis Butts was found unresponsive in his cell at the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center in Jackson, Michigan. Initially, the staff found him without a pulse at around 6:45 a.m on March 26, 2026, and they tried various attempts to save his life. However, their efforts turned futile. Meanwhile, the officials have stated that Jarvis’s death is currently being treated as a suicide case. In their words:
“MDOC staff provided life-saving measures, which were unsuccessful. The Michigan State Police have been called to the facility to investigate; the death is currently being reported as a suicide”.
