Exclusive: Priyadarshan Says Aditya Dhars Dhurandhar Motivated Him As a Filmmaker

Aditya Dhar is on a roll with Dhurandhar and its sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The film industry has lauded his hard work on both the movies. Now during an exclusive chat with Filmfare, Priyadarshan has noted that he was motivated by Aditya Dhar’s way of approaching Dhurandhar and its sequel.

He said, “I started getting motivated by Durandhar now. He did something which nobody could ever think of. See, for example, Aditya was working with me there. But I never taught him anything. He learned from what was going around. It is not me teaching. Some people learn on their own.”

He added, “I learned cinema from watching the films of my masters. I never went to cinema or film school. In cinema, you cannot teach anybody. You have to learn by yourself. That’s what I believe. You have to learn on the technical side. That’s where the film school helps you. Otherwise, your talent is something nobody can teach.”

For those unaware, Aditya served as an assistant director for Priyadarshan for three years in the early 2010s. He worked on films such as Aakrosh and Tezz. Priyadarshan mentored Dhar during this period, with Dhar also contributing to script and dialogues as well.

Judging by the audience reactions, those whistles, those cheers, it almost certainly will. Prepare, then, for a box office juggernaut. And load up on the soda and popcorn. You’re going to be there for a while…”
