Hrithik Roshan Reacts to Ramayana VFX Criticism Urges Audiences to Rethink âœbad VFXâ Debate

The teaser of Ramayana has sparked a widespread online debate, with audiences sharply divided over its visual effects. While some viewers praised the film’s scale and ambition, others criticised the VFX, calling it underwhelming and even comparing it to video game graphics.

As reactions continue to pour in across platforms, Hrithik Roshan has now weighed in, offering a more nuanced perspective on the criticism.

Addressing the ongoing discourse, Hrithik explained that not all visual effects are meant to replicate reality. He noted that VFX operates across a spectrum of styles, and what might appear visually “incorrect” or jarring to some viewers could actually be an intentional creative decision.

According to him, the real issue only arises when a film aims for realism but fails to execute it convincingly.

He also encouraged audiences to move beyond surface-level reactions and avoid labelling something as “bad VFX” without context. Instead, Hrithik suggested that viewers should ask what the filmmakers were trying to achieve and whether the chosen visual language supports the narrative.

By shifting the focus to intent rather than immediate perception, he believes conversations around cinema can become more informed and meaningful.

Backing the makers of Ramayana, Hrithik acknowledged the sheer scale and ambition of the project. He highlighted that films of this magnitude involve significant financial and creative risks, and even when the outcome divides opinion, the effort behind such undertakings deserves appreciation.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, alongside Sai Pallavi and Yash in key roles.

Positioned as one of the most ambitious Indian mythological films in recent years, the project is reportedly being developed as a two-part cinematic experience mounted on a massive budget.

As the debate continues, Hrithik’s take adds balance, reminding audiences that cinema isn’t always about realism, but also about interpretation, scale, and artistic vision.
