Asha Bhosle’s daughter, Varsha, died by suicide in 2012. Cut to 2025, her mom took her last breath on March 12, 2026, after Asha was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital for a chest infection. Asha’s life was not a bed of roses, and her daughter, Varsha, had not pursued a career like her mom. Asha was in a toxic marriage with her first ex-husband, Ganpatrao. Varsha remembered the time when her mom had told her how she never wanted to be at the mercy of anyone else.

When Asha Bhosle left Ganpatrao’s house with her kids, Varsha revealed that her mom had returned to her grandmother, aunties, and uncles. However, the memories she has of Aai are not yet that bright. Varsha had revealed that she had once asked her mom about the roof’s security. She could have given time to her kids. However, Varsha revealed that her mother, Asha, had taught her not to be dependent on anyone, and Varsha, who used to write for Rediff, said:
“Never again did I want to be at the mercy of anyone else. It would have been equally harmful for you three. You had to grow up in your own home, and with the freedom I alone could sanction. We did, we did.”
