Sony Pictures brought a chilling surprise to CinemaCon in Las Vegas, unveiling the first trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth chapter in the long-running horror franchise. Introducing the footage, Sony’s Adam Bergerman confidently told the audience that this could be the scariest film in the series so far.
Set after Insidious: The Red Door, the story shifts focus to a completely new family. Amelia Eve plays Gemma, a young mother who returns to her childhood home with her daughter, only to discover she has the ability to enter “The Further,” the eerie spirit world central to the franchise. But this time, the stakes are higher, as she realizes she can bring entities back with her into the real world.

As Gemma’s powers grow, so does the danger. What begins as unsettling dreams quickly spirals into something far more terrifying, especially when the supernatural forces become aware of her abilities. With demons now able to cross over, the boundary between worlds starts collapsing, turning everyday life into a nightmare. The trailer itself leans heavily into tension, opening with a disturbing dental scene before escalating into full-blown horror.

Directed and written by Jacob Chase, the film also features Lin Shaye reprising her iconic role, alongside Brandon Perea and a fresh ensemble cast. Backed by Blumhouse Productions and creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the franchise continues its strong run, having already crossed $740 million globally. The new installment is set to hit theatres on August 21.
