Choreographer Vijay Ganguly Convinced Aditya Dhar To Keep Hit Song Shararat in Dhurandhar

While Aditya Dhar’s  Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues to dominate the box office, a fascinating behind-the-scenes detail has emerged about one of its most popular tracks. It turns out that the hit song Shararat almost didn’t make it into the final cut of the film.

In a recent revelation, Aditya opened up about his initial hesitation about the track and credited choreographer Vijay Ganguly for being the reason it stayed in the movie. Taking to Instagram, Aditya recently shared pictures from the sets and expressed his gratitude toward Vijay, whom he described as a “choreographer par excellence.”

Aditya admitted that he wasn’t entirely sold on the idea of including a traditional lip-sync dance number in a fast-paced film like Dhurandhar. Recalling their conversations, the director shared, “I still remember our conversations around Shararat. I wasn’t fully convinced about doing a lip-sync dance track in the film.”

However, it was Vijay Ganguly’s confidence that eventually turned the tide. According to the filmmaker, the choreographer simply smiled and told him, “Let’s go for it, sir. It’ll be fun.” Aditya mentioned that this one push gave both him and music composer Shashwat Sachdev the confidence required to move forward with the song. Today, the director admits the sequence is one of his personal favorite parts of the film.

Praising Vijay’s approach to filmmaking, Aditya Dhar highlighted how the choreographer thinks beyond just dance steps. He wrote, “With Vijay, it always begins with instinct. He doesn’t just hear music, he feels it, and then translates that feeling into something you can see.” He further added that Vijay thinks like a director, which made his own job easier. Aditya attributed this storytelling instinct to Vijay’s lineage as the son of the legendary Anil Ganguly.

The decision to keep the song clearly paid off. Shararat, composed by Shashwat Sachdev and featuring the vocals of Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas, has become a massive hit. The song features Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza performing during a wedding sequence for the characters played by Ranveer Singh (Hamza) and Sara Arjun (Yalina). Apart from Shararat, Aditya Dhar also praised Vijay’s work on other tracks like Didi and Fa9la (Flipperachi) featuring Akshaye Khanna.
