Riteish Deshmukh has officially confirmed that Salman Khan will be a part of his upcoming historical project, Raja Shivaji. The announcement has quickly become a major talking point across social media, adding star power to an already highly anticipated film.
Riteish Deshmukh, who is currently hosting Bigg Boss Marathi Season 6, shared the news during a recent episode of the reality show. Taking a moment to address the audience, he said, “Salman Khan is playing a major role in Raja Shivaji.” This direct confirmation put an end to various rumours and shifted the spotlight onto the scale of the project.
Raja Shivaji is a period drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary founder of the Maratha Empire. The film aims to chronicle his journey as a visionary leader and warrior. Riteish Deshmukh is not only starring in the lead role but is also the creative force driving the project as the director.
While Riteish confirmed Salman’s presence in the film, the specific details about his character are being kept strictly confidential. This hasn’t stopped fans from speculating, with many theories suggesting he might play the role of Jiva Mahala, a loyal and brave associate of Shivaji Maharaj. However, the makers have not yet officially commented on these specific character rumours.
The film features a star-studded ensemble cast. Alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Salman Khan, the project includes Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, and Genelia Deshmukh. Other notable actors involved are Mahesh Manjrekar, Amol Gupte, Bhagyashree, Jitendra Joshi, Boman Irani, Sachin Khedekar, and Fardeen Khan.
The musical score for the film is being composed by the renowned duo Ajay-Atul. By bringing Salman on board, the film appears to be positioning itself for a wide pan-India appeal which has also kept the fans excited. Raja Shivaji will release theatrically hit on May 1.
