Ranbir Kapoor is currently navigating one of the most significant phases of his professional journey. While he is busy with high-profile projects like Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, discussions about his next big move have already begun. According to a report by Pinkvilla, he is expected to finish his current commitments by October 2026 and is now narrowing down his choices for the project that will precede the filming of Animal Park.
The two main contenders for Ranbir’s next slot are Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra 2 and the highly anticipated reboot, Dhoom 4, backed by Yash Raj Films. Sources indicate that Ranbir is being selective and is waiting for bound scripts before confirming anything.

A source shared, “Ranbir has heard the ideas for both Brahmastra 2 and Dhoom 4, and has liked the worlds being created in each of them. However, he is awaiting bound scripts before making a final decision.”
Both films have their own sets of hurdles though. While the Dhoom 4 reboot is still in its early stages and is yet to lock in a director, Brahmastra 2 is dealing with casting shifts. The sequel was originally intended to feature Deepika Padukone as Amrita. However, as Deepika is expecting her second child, the makers are reportedly looking at a change in casting for the role.
Despite these factors, Brahmastra 2 currently seems to be the frontrunner. The source added, “Among Dhoom 4 and Brahmastra 2, right now Brahmastra is in the forefront to be his next film. But as we know, things don’t take time to turn in Bollywood, and several factors need to align for Brahmastra 2 to go on floors.”
Ranbir is expected to have more clarity by June 2026 once final drafts are ready. Sandeep Reddy Vanga is reportedly committed to starting Animal Park by the end of 2027 and has already held multiple discussions with Ranbir about the same.
