The Devil Wears Prada 2 has finally been released, 20 years after the first part, The Devil Wears Prada. The film brings back Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci in their much-loved roles. The film was first announced in 2024 and marks the return of David Frankel as the director and Aline Brosh McKenna as the writer. So, as the fans rush to the cinema halls to see the return of ‘Miranda Priestly’ and ‘Andrea Sachs’, let’s take a quick look at how much the stars have charged for the film.
Meryl Streep knew The Devil Wears Prada was going to be a hit
Even before The Devil Wears Prada was released, Meryl Streep knew it would break many records, so she negotiated to earn twice the original offer. However, with her then-hefty paycheque, it’s safe to say that what she has bagged for the sequel is immeasurable. Before The Devil Wears Prada 2 was released, Streep sat down with her fellow cast members, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, to speak with Today about her decision to go into the original film. She revealed:
“I knew it was going to be a hit. I read the script – the script was great. They called me up, and they made an offer, and I said ‘No. I’m not going to do it.’ I wanted to see if I doubled my ask, and they went right away and said, ‘Sure.'”
