It’s been three months since Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today Show host, Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her Arizona home under mysterious circumstances. Nancy was last seen at night on January 31, 2026 (ET) by Savannah’s sister, Annie Guthrie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni. Ever since the FBI released photos and videos of a masked person of interest in Nancy’s case, the internet has been buzzing with theories regarding Tommaso Cioni matching the physical stature of the kidnapper. Amid that, new claims surfaced about his and his wife’s monetary conversations with Nancy.
Tommaso Cioni and Annie Guthrie reportedly asked Nancy Guthrie for a loan
Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, allegedly asked Nancy Guthrie for a loan before her disappearance. The allegation was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Jonathan Lee Riches (better known as JLR), an independent journalist, who has been sharing updates of the case since day 1. Notably, JLR didn’t cite his source, and news outlets have also been unable to confirm the statement’s validity. However, JLR’s dedicated reporting on every update regarding the Nancy Guthrie case led his followers to believe the unverified loan angle, which many found believable.
