Karan Johar, known for shaping some of Bollywood’s most iconic love stories, made his Met Gala debut in a custom look by his close friend and ace designer Manish Malhotra. The outfit was inspired by the timeless artistry of Raja Ravi Varma.
Talking about the ensemble, Karan shared that Manish not only designed the look but was also present at the event. In a heartfelt note, he described the concept as “Framed in Eternity” and opened up about the inspiration behind it.
He explained how Raja Ravi Varma’s work has always stood out for the way it captures pure emotion, something he personally connects with as a storyteller. Calling Manish his oldest collaborator and friend, Karan said there was no one better to bring this vision to life. He also appreciated how the designer blended Indian culture with global couture so effortlessly, adding that wearing the outfit made him feel like a canvas brought to life.
