Now, the ex-Director of National Intelligence revealed that she is stepping away from public service to support her husband, Abraham Williams, after his bone cancer diagnosis. In turn, her resignation is among the biggest cabinet exits from Donald Trump’s administration.

According to a Fox News report and Tulsi Gabbard’s post on X, she informed President Donald Trump of her resignation in a private Oval Office meeting. Her resignation will officially take effect on June 30, 2026. In her letter, she opened up about her husband, Abraham Williams’ health battle. Tulsi also explained that she cannot continue to work to the best of her abilities in a demanding national security role during her husband’s health battle. The former Director of National Intelligence also mentioned that Abraham had supported her during her military deployments, political campaigns,, and her leadership role in the government during his time. In her words:
“My husband, Abraham, has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage- standing steadfast through my deployment to East Africa on a Joint Special Operations mission, multiple political campaigns, and now my service in this role.”
