
The much-loved filmmaker, Anik Dutta, was found dead at the age of 66 after falling from the roof of a six-storey residential building. The man behind a new genre of political satire in the Bengali film industry was found dead on May 27, 2026, at Hindustan Park near Garihat. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. However, amid that, now reports have gone rife that the filmmaker left a letter for his daughter, suggesting that Dutta might have intentionally jumped off the roof.
Did Anik Dutta commit suicide?
Anik Dutta died at the age of 66, following a fall from a roof. According to the initial investigation, the police had alleged that the filmmaker died of suicide. The report further revealed that a pair of leather sandals and a magazine titled Cinematography Art were found on the building’s roof. However, it was the handwritten letter tucked into the magazine that has now caught everyone’s attention. It is being alleged that the letter was addressed to his Sweden-based daughter, Aishi, in which he said no one was to be blamed for his death. While the remaining details of the letter have not yet been shared, it is currently being checked to verify Dutta’s handwriting.
