Alka Yagnik Addresses Viral Wheelchair Video Following Padma Bhushan Ceremony

Alka Yagnik has reached out to her fans and well-wishers to offer reassurance after the circulation of a video showing her sitting on a wheelchair. The clip, which went viral online, emerged shortly after she spoke candidly about her ongoing health struggles while accepting the Padma Bhushan award.

On June 23, Alka Yagnik was conferred the Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu at the second investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. Addressing the viral footage that surfaced the following night, she took to Instagram to clarify the situation and thank her supporters.

She wrote, “Thank you for your love, concern and countless good wishes. I have seen the concern surrounding a video from the ceremony and would like to assure everyone that I am well and progressing positively in my recovery.” Explaining the reason for using a wheelchair, she added, “After a long and memorable day at the Padma felicitation, I was simply fatigued and requested a wheelchair while leaving.”

Alka urged fans not to be alarmed by the viral clip, writing, “Please do not worry. I feel much better and remain deeply grateful for the prayers and support that continue to strengthen me.”

In a note shared earlier, Alka opened up about her recent period away from the public eye. She wrote, “For the last two years, I have stayed away from the spotlight, from public appearances, and from sharing much of my journey. Many of you knew I am going through difficult health, and through it all, your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have stayed with me every step of the way.”

Attending the award ceremony was a special milestone for the singer, who described the event as a tribute to her listeners. She shared, “I am slowly finding my way back, and I wanted to be here today – not only for myself, but for each and every one of you who have been a part of this journey.”

Alka concluded her message with gratitude toward the nation’s leadership and her dedicated fanbase, writing, “Today, I didn’t just accept an award – I felt the love of millions who have been a part of my journey. Thank you.”
