Veteran actress, Tanuja raised her daughters, Kajol and Tanisha Mukerji single-handedly. She had to balance her life between her professional and personal commitments. This was because she had separated from her husband, Shomu Mukherjee. Tanishaa recently revealed how she missed her maa during her growing-up time and shared that if she had the chance, she would never let her mom work.

For the unversed, Kajol and Tanishaa were raised by their grandmother, Shobhna Samarth, a superstar at her time. During a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Tanishaa shared how she missed her mom’s love and care while she was growing up. Tanujaa had earlier revealed she had to act not out of choice but due to a financial crunch in the family. After her separation, she had to look after her kids. Tanishaa now shared how she did not want her mom to be a working lady and emphasised that women should not work for five years after they have a child. In her words:
“I would say my mom was a working woman, but I wish she wasn’t. When I was born, my mother had to work to support our family. We didn’t have enough money then. My mom used to work in at least two to three shifts every day. I would never meet my mother but I would still sleep in her room to feel closer to her.”
