Almost 25 years after Bridget Jones’s Diary’s release, Renee Zellweger is back reprising her iconic role as the journaling everywoman in the genre-defining film franchise. The upcoming fourth instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy also marks the return of Hugh Grant and Colin Firth as Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy, respectively.
Ahead of the film’s theatrical release this Valentine’s Day, Renee Zellweger opened up about creating her memorable character. She shared, “It’s not so much the correlation between Bridget and me is the strongest with people who love her, but it’s within themselves. And I think that these books were internationally embraced for such a while before we began the film journey, which is kind of a really cool thing, because people imagine themselves in the pages.”
Based on author Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will take us into Jones’ life as she navigates a career as a scriptwriter and a new age-gap romance that begins to stir quite a few problems.
The film has new cast additions including Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall. Universal Pictures India will release Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in theatres on February 14, 2025.
