Legendary actor Robert De Niro, known for his powerhouse performances in films such as The Godfather, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and Killers of the Flower Moon among many others has made his OTT debut with Zero Day.
He said that doing a mini-series felt like doing three feature films back to back and it was a very strict production schedule compared to some of the other projects he’s worked on.
The actor plays the role of a former U.S. President who comes out of retirement to lead a task force, the Zero Day Commission which is entrusted to track down the perpetrators of a cyberattack responsible for death and devastation.
De Niro shared, “It was different than a feature, especially than with certain directors that I’ve worked with, but it was good. It’s just another structure if you will.”
De Niro’s character George Mullen is based on several US politicians and former Presidents such as Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and some congressmen. Talking about the same, De Niro continued, “I get a lot of information from that. That’s the thrust of who we were thinking of, but not anyone specifically.”
Zero Day is created by Noah Oppenheim and Eric Newman and is streaming on Netflix.
