Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma reportedly opted for separation. The Indian cricketer got married to the influencer and choreographer on December 22, 2020. Within four years of their marriage, tensions cropped up, reportedly. Their divorce was finalised at Bandra Court in Mumbai. The pair had met during the COVID-19-induced lockdown, and there was a time when Dhanashree revealed how Yuzi proposed to her after taking two months of dance training.

According to a News 18 report, Yuzi and Dhanashree met during the lockdown when the cricketer took her dance lessons. It was in 2024 when Dhanashree came on the sets of the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 and shared how Yuzi had proposed to her when she completed two months of dance training with him. Dhanashree was left stunned and shared that cricket matches did not occur during the national lockdown. Cricketers were at home and were frustrated. It was then that Yuzi wanted to learn dance as he had seen her dance videos on social media. In her words:
“I used to teach dance and he approached me to be my student. I agreed to teach him. It was a very professional student-teacher relationship, I want to make it very clear. Suddenly after two months he directly proposed to me for marriage. Woh batting karte bhi nahi but unhone chakka maar diya direct.”
