Jyotika is a stellar actress who has made a name for herself with her acting talents and elegance. However, despite having all the qualities of a brilliant actress, she has often faced casual sexism. Now, she had opened up about the same and revealed how it has often led to her doubting her own identity.
Jyotika on facing casual sexism
Jyotika sat for a conversation with News 18 Showsha, where she opened up about facing harsh discrimination in the industry for being a superstar, Suriya’s wife. Despite being a phenomenal actress herself, Jyotika revealed that if she feels lucky to be Suriya’s wife, people commend her husband for being a nice actor. However, if her husband, Suriya, feels lucky to have married Jyotika, people still commend him for thinking about his wife. She was quoted as saying:
“If I say that I feel lucky to have married Suriya, people say that he’s a really nice guy. If he says that he feels lucky to have married a nice woman, the conversation is once again like Suriya is such a nice guy that he’s thinking of his wife. Sometimes, it reaches a level where you may have an identity crisis. There are hundreds of instances that I can point out.”
