Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are all set to reunite for Pathaan 2, the highly anticipated sequel to their 2023 blockbuster. The film, which is part of Yash Raj Films’ expanding Spy Universe, will see SRK returning as the charismatic RAW agent, while Deepika will reprise her role as Rubina. There are also speculations that Ashutosh Rana, who played Colonel Sunil Luthra, might be back for the sequel.
The script for Pathaan 2 is still being finalized, with screenwriter Abbas Tyrewala recently confirming that it’s nearly complete and currently in the dialogue stage. While several reports suggested that the production schedule had already been locked, sources reveal that this might not be entirely accurate. The team is still working out the details before the film officially goes on floors.
At the moment, Shah Rukh is busy shooting for King, where he shares screen space with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The film is expected to release in mid-2026. Meanwhile, Deepika has been on a maternity break after welcoming her daughter, Dua, last September. This means her return to the big screen with Pathaan 2 will be even more special for fans.
The first Pathaan, released on January 25, 2023, was a massive success at the box office. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in lead roles and marked SRK’s big comeback after Zero (2018). It became one of the biggest hits in Hindi cinema, grossing ₹1,050.30 crore (US$120 million) worldwide. In India, it earned ₹654.28 crore (US$76 million), while overseas collections stood at ₹396.02 crore (US$46 million). The film’s opening weekend collection alone was ₹280.75 crore, setting new records in Bollywood. With such a phenomenal response, expectations from Pathaan 2 are sky-high, and fans can’t wait to see the superstar duo back in action
