Michelle Trachtenberg sadly passed away at the age of 39. While her cause of death is presently unknown, she recently had a liver transplant. The same may have led to complications. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
Hollywood has been mourning the death of the notable actress, who starred in incredible projects like The Gossip Girl, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Spy Kids and more. Michelle’s friend and media personality Amanda de Cadenet took to social media to share her reactions about her death. Expressing shock, Cadenet paid her tribute to the actress while revealing that Michelle had facetimed her from the hospital.
“Sweetheart Michelle. What sad news this morning to wake up to. It feels weird and awful to be posting this, but I want to acknowledge your death because I cared about you,” her tribute began. “I will always remember you as the young vivacious woman I met when I took this photo of you …Seeing your face from the hospital bed when we FaceTimed recently, even though you did not look like you, your sweetness and humor were still alive,” she added.
Amanda also wrote that Michelle knew “death was a high possibility” for the last six months. While she revealed that, Amanda did not delve into the conversations they have had over the six months or so. “I am only sorry that the outcome was not a better one. Wishing you a peaceful transition sweet friend and may your spirit finally rest,” she wrote.
For those unaware, The Gossip Girl actress was found “unconscious and unresponsive” by police on the morning of Wednesday. An inside also told PEOPLE magazine that Trachtenberg was “really down emotionally” the year prior. “She told friends she was struggling. She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling,” the reports added.
While it seems her close friends were aware of her health issues, the actress never shared her concerns publicly. When a user on Instagram had suggested that she was unwell, Trachtenberg had shared a selfie, stating, “Fun fact. This is my face. Not malnutrition no problems. Why do you have to hate? Get a calendar.”
